SIFEL Morocco: A well established show

Syngenta Seeds has attended this international show since its first edition

The sixth edition of the trade exhibition at Agadir, specialising in the Moroccan F&V sector, revealed the dynamic state of this evolving sector and welcomed innovations. But a certain loss of impetus could be starting to make itself felt.

Syngenta Seeds has attended this international show since its first edition. “This year with a new stand concept, Syngenta Seeds, Crop Protection and Bioline have got together to offer an extended range, showing off the skills of the group’s different activities”, said Mr Hassan Bouguiri (Market Manager Maghreb for Syngenta Seeds). The Syngenta Seeds Maghreb team presented its new varieties to its customers. After much dialogue, these have been positioned to cover the needs expressed by their buyers. In the face of a turbulent F&V market, the slogan adopted by Syngenta Seeds was “Passion for innovation”, emphasises more than ever their determination to give satisfaction.

This event is dedicated to producers and growers, and spans all practices in the production of fruits and vegetables, from field to table. A meeting place for producers, Sifel is also a crossroads for commerce, with many stands of marketeers from groups like Apefel (The F&V association of producer importers), Amcef (Moroccan association of strawberry packers), export bodies like AFB (Atlas Fruit Board) and MFB (Moroccan Fruit Board). Logistics operators, road, sea and ports transport specialists, have also confirmed their interest in having one focus for consumers of their services.

Every year, Sifel just gets bigger: it welcomes new exhibitors and stands extend. The great majority of European exporters are loyal to this fair, as of course are local producers.

The 2008 edition was yet another opportunity to take advantage of the many delegations of foreign business people visiting the exhibition to win over investors. All the more so, since it is held around the same time as EXPOAGRO ALMERIA and another fair in Turkey. More than 400 exhibitors over a surface area of 25,000m2 and 40,000 visitors come together at this unmissable meeting place for the sector.

But the scarcity of water in the Agadir region threatens to weaken Sifel Maroc, completely dependent as it is on the future of the local F&V sector. Stability seems to be the term that best sums up this fair, where compared to other editions, a certain lack of dynamism could be detected.
