Pesticide Residues Committee releases the latest information about tomato pesticides in the UK
During the 2009 summer term, 78 samples of fruit and vegetables were analysed as part of the School Fruit and Vegetable Scheme (SFVS) testing programme. The SFVS entitles all four to six year old children in state-funded schools in the UK to a free piece of fruit or vegetable each school day. 11 tomato samples imported from Spain (6) and the Netherlands (5) were tested for up to 235 pesticide residues.
